Dr. Kendra Kamp, Director
Dr. Kamp is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biobehavioral Nursing and Health Informatics and Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Washington, Seattle. She is the Director of the Gastrointestinal Health and Wellness Lab. She is passionate about improving care for patients with ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, and irritable bowel syndrome. Dr. Kamp received her BSN from Calvin University and her PhD from Michigan State University. She completed three years of post-doctoral training and also obtained a Masters in Clinical and Translational Research Methods from the University of Washington.
Linda Yoo, PhD Candidate, Head Research Assistant
Linda is a PhD candidate in the School of Nursing at the University of Washington, Seattle. She received her BSN from the University of Texas at Austin, and completed her master’s during her PhD studies. Linda is also a 2023 Crohn’s and Colitis Young Adults Network Fellow, Magnuson Scholar, and All of Us Research Scholar. Her dissertation work is focused on the sleep-wake cycles of individuals with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) which is funded by the National Institute of Nursing Research (F31NR020426). Linda has personal ties to the IBD community, and loves to share her passion of IBD research with other students. Linda serves as the head research assistant of the Gastrointestinal Health and Wellness Lab.
Xiaoyu Zhang, PhD Student, Lab Member
Xiaoyu is a PhD student in the School of Nursing at the University of Washington, Seattle. He received his BSN from the University of Texas at Tyler and completed his master’s during PhD studies in UW. His research interest is focused on the sleep problems of adolescents with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Also, he is interested in sleep studies and passionate about improving the sleep quality of individuals with chronic conditions. Xiaoyu is one of the team members of the Gastrointestinal Health and Wellness Lab.
Tanvi Kale, Undergraduate Research Assistant
Tanvi is a freshman studying biology at the University of Washington, Seattle. Her research interests lie in medicine and anatomy and physiology, primarily in the cellular and molecular biology of the cardiovascular and digestive systems. Alongside research, she is also passionate about improving patient care and wellness through professional team-based and self-intervention methods. Tanvi is a research assistant at the Gastrointestinal Health and Wellness Lab.
Arwa Iqbal, Undergraduate Research Assistant
Arwa is a senior studying Public Health and minoring in Data Science at the University of Washington, Seattle. She is interested in understanding barriers to accessing healthcare within gastrointestinal (GI), mental, and maternal/family health. Embracing a holistic approach to healthcare, Arwa is eager to explore how lifestyle and environmental factors intersect with the onset of disease. As a research assistant at the Gastrointestinal Health and Wellness Lab, Arwa enjoys collaborating with the team to learn more about Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and its impact on patients.
Katherine Sun, Undergraduate Research Assistant
Katherine is a junior studying Food Systems, Nutrition, and Health in Public Health and minoring in Statistics and Global Health. She is deeply passionate about epidemiology, particularly chronic and infectious disease epidemiology. Her curiosity draws her to understanding the multifaceted factors influencing disease patterns and transmission dynamics. Katherine is a research assistant at the Gastrointestinal Health and Wellness Lab.
